How to Match Coffee Tables, Side Tables and Console Tables

Your coffee table, side tables and console do not need to come from the same collection. In fact, mixing pieces often looks more considered when there is one clear connection between them.

Repeat one finish

If the coffee table has a champagne-gold frame, you might repeat that tone in the side table or console while choosing a different tabletop shape. This creates continuity without making the room repetitive.

Mix shapes carefully

A round coffee table can pair well with square side tables because the contrast is intentional. If every item has a different shape, use a shared material or finish to tie them together.

Keep visual weight balanced

A very heavy coffee table paired with delicate side tables can feel disconnected. Try to keep the overall scale and thickness of frames reasonably related.

Can you mix gold and chrome?

Yes, but repeat each finish deliberately. One isolated chrome item in an otherwise gold room may feel accidental; repeating chrome in a lamp or mirror can make the mix feel purposeful.

Should tabletops match?

Not necessarily. Glass, ceramic and stone-look surfaces can be mixed if the colours and frame finishes relate. Keep the palette controlled so the materials do not compete.

Shop coordinated pieces

Compare our coffee tables, side tables and console tables. For finish coordination, read our gold, chrome and rose-gold guide.

Start with the largest anchor in the room: browse our sofa sets, then coordinate the surrounding tables to its scale, colour and metallic detailing.
