Dressing Table Size Guide: Dimensions, Height & Width
Share
A dressing table needs more space than its cabinet dimensions alone. You also need room to sit, open drawers, use the mirror comfortably and access nearby doors or wardrobes.

What are typical dressing table dimensions?
As a practical starting point, many dressing tables are roughly 80–120 cm wide, 40–50 cm deep and around 70–80 cm high. These are common ranges rather than a universal standard, so always check the measurements of the exact model you are considering.
| Measurement | Typical range | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 80–120 cm | Usable wall space and clearance beside doors or wardrobes |
| Depth | 40–50 cm | Walking space and how far your stool or chair projects |
| Table height | 70–80 cm | Comfort with your seat and knee clearance |
If the dressing table includes a mirror, also measure the total height of the complete unit, not just the tabletop.
Measure the wall width
Start with the usable wall width, not the full room width. Exclude door swings, wardrobes, curtains, heating vents and any space needed to walk around the bed.
How tall should a dressing table be?
Many dressing tables have a tabletop around 70–80 cm high, but the most comfortable height depends on the stool or chair you plan to use. Check that you can sit comfortably with enough knee room and that drawers or supports do not obstruct your legs.
Allow space for a stool or chair
Measure how far the stool projects when you are sitting and when it is pulled out. You should be able to use it without blocking the main walkway.
Check mirror height
If the dressing table includes a mirror or LED mirror, check the total height of the unit and the height of any window sill, shelf or wall feature above it.

Think about drawer access
Drawers and cupboards need clear space in front. A table that technically fits between two walls may still be inconvenient if a drawer collides with the bed or stool.
Check power points
For illuminated mirrors or hair tools, note where the nearest outlet is before positioning the vanity. Avoid stretching power leads across walking areas.
